Subject:Comments not threading
Security:Public

In my recent post, the replies I've made aren't threading under their author's comment. No idea why. I've opened a support request; I'm just letting people know that, if you haven't gotten a notification of a response from me--maybe I made one, and it didn't register as being "to you."

ETA: GAAAH. They are threading... they're just not indenting. Apparently the layout system has changed, and you don't get visual reminders of what's-under-what.

Apparently I am insufficiently geeky on the topic of tarot cards. Can you help me identify this deck?

Subject:Ohnoes I watched TV yesterday
Security:Public

I barely ever watch TV. I read the newspapers on the intarwebz. I listen to the radio.

Yesterday, however, I watched the Redskins game (EPIC FAIL!) and part of the RNC whilst hanging with sophistbastard and osym at an Irish pub. Because really, what goes better with football and politics than booze and snark? Would Wonkette even exist if politics didn't go hand in hand with booze and snark?

The football game was spectacularly bad for the Redskins. I mean, I was impressed with how badly it went for them. What the hell? Were the pro players somehow replaced by my high school team or something?

Osym and I entertained ourselves through the game by noting the tight pants (athletic men in tight pants... mmm), homoerotic overtones, and referee hand signals. Oh sure, you think you know the signals now. You are wrong.

Talk to the hands Disco Dancing Touch my boobies Nonconsensual fisting

Yea, verily, it was truly Raining Men.

Complaint: Even in Irish pubs, and even when the home team is losing, it's poor form for the band to start practicing before the game is over. Especially when they block the big screen image!

Okay, the RNC. Leaving out for a moment my own political opinions, and just concentrating on basic drunken observations.

  1. Cindy McCain = Cryptkeeper? I'm just sayin. Scary!
  2. McCain's mom = alive or dead? Dude, she looks like a corpse. I felt sorry for her.
  3. There was a blue and red flag waving in the background part of the time. Whose flag was that?
  4. Is it just me, or are they totally fetishizing McCain's war injuries?
  5. Have they forgotten that he was 5th from last in his class at the Naval Academy?
  6. Poor Palin. She stood up and clapped at one point in McCain's speech with such a look of confusion on her face. "Conventions are hard! Let's go shopping!"
  7. And WTF was that mansion in the background?

I dunno. Maybe I was drunk. But I swear it seemed like a farce to me.

We also drunk texted a few people.

Okay, that's all for now. But to cheer myself up, I give you this video.

Oddly, Twitter seems to be where I've posted anything of substance (i.e., not a poll) lately. Or maybe I just haven't posted anything of substance. I did get a new bra on Monday and it's comfy, if you happen to care about my breasts.

So I forgot to post the last couple days of Twitters. Read at your own risk and san loss.

Three days of mindless rambling. )

Stop this one dead in it's tracks please. If you see the quotes in question, please, please let the source know they are satire. They seem to have taken on a life of their own.

See them here: http://unbearablebobness. typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/08/ governor-sarah-palin-quotes. html

Total nonsense non-quotes from Palin )
There's plenty about her to worry about without spreading nonsense quotes that make you look foolish.

From the ACLU:

I Am a Constitution Voter
  • I believe that no one -- including the President -- is above the law.
  • I oppose all forms of torture, and I support both closing the Guantánamo Bay prison and ending indefinite detention.
  • I oppose warrantless spying.
  • I believe that government officials, no matter how high-ranking, should be held accountable for breaking the law and violating the Constitution.
  • I believe that the Constitution protects every person's rights equally -- no matter what they believe, how they live, where or if they worship, and whom they love.
  • I reject the notion that we have to tolerate violations of our most fundamental rights in the name of fighting terrorism.
  • I am deeply committed to the Constitution and expect our country's leaders to share and act on that commitment -- every day, without fail.
We need to let our leaders know that when we step into the ballot box the Constitution will be the first thing on our minds.

Our goal is to sign up 300,000 Constitution Voters by October 15th to demonstrate our power.
Sign the pledge (and get a free bumper sticker) here.

As Frederick Clarkson notes in a recent report on Talk To Action, the most disturbing of the dominionists have begun to pray for McCain's death. Why? Because that's how much they love Sarah Palin. McCain should be elected, and almost immediately die in office. That makes her the first theocratic (and likely the last of any ideology) President of the United States.

Twitters for Monday 1 September. )

I will note that [info]stori_lundi found a super sexxay bra. So there was win. Just none for me! Sadness.

Well, that's not really true. I did discover I was just wearing a slightly too small band size on my bras, so I bought extenders for the ones I already have. Cheap solution! I remain a hard-to-find size, but eh. That's what online shopping is for.

Jonathan Cainer tells me: Nostalgia isn't what it used to be! Once, we pined for the good old days. Now, each time we look back, we wonder whether we're embellishing, embroidering or weaving a cloth of self deception to disguise a truth we're keen to deny. And each time we look forward? Well, in these troubled times, none of us dare. Which leaves us with right now? Right here. What can be improved, not "one day" but quickly and practically, using what you have to hand or can easily get. The answer may yet please you.

Vera goes to the vet Friday. I found a lump on her side. I suspect it's benign, because older dogs often get benign tumors, but I'd like to have it looked at. She's lost weight.

Mood: annoyed

I rarely do friends cuts, but I removed some people who haven't posted in ages or only post a couple lines once in a while and give me no inkling of who they are or who have NEVER (srsly) posted. Because I post a lot of really personal stuff about myself and would rather have some idea of who has access to that information.

This started when I decided to remove [info]asylum_promo because some troll posted a borky HTML piece of shit that messed up my F-list. So on I went, getting rid of the rest of the fluff.

If you believe I removed you in error, please comment. I may have, and I'm sorry! So if we've been commenting back and forth on each other's entries and you thought we were friends, it was totally a mistake that I removed you and I want you to let me know.

But if you haven't posted anything of substance in forever and have rarely or never commented--sorry. That's kind of creepy.
